Global Glory® – Erev Sukkot 5776

Tomorrow evening is Erev Sukkot. In our neck of the woods it begins at 7:08p with candle lighting (that’s 18′ before sunset). The first day is the 15th of the month of Tishrei, which would correspond to Monday, Sept. 28. Sukkot means “booths” & many are building & adding the finishing touches right now to live in under the stars for 7 days. It’s a reminder of God leading the Jewish people thru the desert where they had no permanent housing. We need to remember that God is well able to keep us thru anything & everything that we could possibly go thru in this life. This life is temporary. Our permanent home is with Him.

Global Glory® – Shavuot

All in HebrewShavuot begins Tuesday, June 3rd, 2014, 18 minutes before sunset. It is celebrated for two days. It is a celebration of joy for the harvest.  It is the 50th day since Pesach (Passover). It is traditionally celebrated as the day that the Torah was given to Moses on Mt. Sinai. It is the birthday of Judaism. When God gave the Law, there was fire on the mount and quaking. The Greek name for Shavuot is Pentecost. Shavuot was also the birthday of the Church. There were tongues of fire and the place was shaken as the Holy Spirit was given (Ac 2:1-4).  There was great joy and a spiritual harvest. At Mt. Sinai the Torah (Law) was on the outside; now the Law is inside; written on the heart. At Mt. Sinai 3,000 died (Ex 32:28); at Mt. Zion 3,000 were given New Life (Ac 2:41). Shavuot fulfilled.

Chanukah O Hanukkah!

Chanukah is approaching rapidly. It’s once in our lifetime that Thxg falls during Hanukkah. Won’t happen again for 1,000s of yrs. As for me, I’m glad it’s rare, because it will be very hectic! But at least we’ll have all kinds of foodies, including: matzo ball soup, latkes, turkey, squirrel dumplins, & stack-cake. Now that’s a TN Chanukah/Thxg celebration! Shalom ya’ll! ✡♥

Simchat Torah

Today is Simchat Torah–––Joy of Torah! At this time the Torah is started from the beginning again–––Genesis (Bereshit in Hebrew). Read just a little each day. Meditate on it as you go & listen in your spirit. Have an open heart & God will reveal Himself to you. But you must come with faith like a little child. Don’t analyze everything, just listen & expect!

A Good Name

A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches! Proverbs 22:1 The Lord does not appreciate a loose tongue wagging in judgment against His family. It pays to be nice!
